C. Scott Taylor, PhD (US/AUS)

Scott is an author, academic, teacher, student of the “Ageless Wisdom”, storyteller, scientist, founding director of the Cetacean Studies Institute, expert on Dolphin-Assisted Therapy, Permaculture designer and teacher, alternative architecture builder, lightshow artist, workshop leader, lifelong animal lover and activist, father, ex-pat American now proudly Australian citizen, and psychonaut.

He was instrumental in the founding of four schools, one of which, the Canyonlands Field Institute, still teaches young people about their role in the desert Southwest environment of the United States.

His book “Souls in the Sea: Dolphins, whales and human destiny”, published in 2003, has been a well received testament to his over 40 years of research into the relations between humans and dolphins across time.

His friend, Dr John Lilly, said of Scott:

“Mr Taylor is a key person in what I call the Cetacean Nation, a global network of like-minded individuals attempting to bridge the communication gap between humans and cetaceans. His work contributes to a wider understanding of humanity, cetacea, and the environment on the edge of the twenty-first century. Scott’s continued efforts as educator and catalyst bridge not only the interspecies communication barrier, but the barriers between people.”

While still a teenager, he developed his own spiritual discipline, which he calls Psychedelic Yoga. His practice led to life changing revelations that have shaped and informed his life.

Recognising a central challenge in the psychedelic experience, that of acknowledging and committing to transcendent revelation, has been of primary importance in his life. Completely committing to such revelations provides insight into “having a purpose”. Following through by building the means to accomplish one’s purpose in the consensus reality has, for Scott, revealed how Lilly’s Coincidence Control Office actually operates. It’s synchronicities all the way down!
He will share insights gained through observations of various events in psychedelic history, in an autobiographic tale of peculiar scope.

His role as “the Janitor in the Temple,” working with a range of public figures over the years, gave him inside access to witness the reality of leadership, the authenticity of key teachers, and the development of the New Age in America, among other things.

Scott will speak twice at EGA 2025: the first presentation will focus on his own psychedelic journey from the mid-1960s to the present, sharing tales of light shows and notable personalities.

The second will be a meditation on the role of dolphins in human culture and how psychedelic spirituality has intersected with our understandings of this extraordinary partner in Earth life.

Scott now shares his life with his wife, Kari, elder cat Cleo, and two silly chickens on their rural property in Queensland, where Permaculture design has afforded them a quiet, calm and wonder-filled life.
