Garden States: Regeneration - First Programming ‘Drop’
We’re excited to unveil the first program announcement for Garden States: Regeneration, EGA’s much-loved outdoor ethnobotanical gathering, returning 28 November – 01 December 2025.
This first wave of program contributors offers a taste of what’s to come—a diverse mix of plant wisdom keepers, researchers, cultural custodians, and community voices helping to shape the dialogue on plants, people, and regeneration. You can also see some of the lectures on the website as it all starts to take shape.

Speaker: Mike Jay (UK)
Mike Jay is an author and historian known for his extensive writing on the history of science and medicine, with a focus on the mind, consciousness, and psychoactive substances. His work explores how human understanding of altered states has evolved across cultures and centuries.
His books include Mescaline: A Global History of the First Psychedelic, a definitive account of the ceremonial, medicinal, and modern uses of peyote and San Pedro cacti, and High Society: Mind-Altering Drugs in History and Culture, a richly illustrated exploration of humanity’s relationship with psychoactive compounds.
