Mike Jay is an author and historian known for his extensive writing on the history of science and medicine, with a focus on the mind, consciousness, and psychoactive substances. His work explores how human understanding of altered states has evolved across cultures and centuries.

His books include Mescaline: A Global History of the First Psychedelic, a definitive account of the ceremonial, medicinal, and modern uses of peyote and San Pedro cacti, and High Society: Mind-Altering Drugs in History and Culture, a richly illustrated exploration of humanityโ€™s relationship with psychoactive compounds.

His most recent work, Psychonauts: Drugs and the Making of the Modern Mind, chronicles the self-experimenters who helped shape modern ideas of consciousness.

Mike Jay will be traveling to Australia to deliver two keynote presentations at Garden States Conference in late November.
