About Garden States: Regeneration
As Entheogenesis Australis (EGA) celebrates its 21st year in 2025 we’ll be holding a long-awaited outdoor ethnobotanical conference, getting everyone back to the garden and amongst nature.
For decades, our iconic open-air, multi-day events have earned a place in people's hearts and minds as unique and special gatherings run by and for the community.
Garden States: Regeneration is scheduled for Friday, 28 November to Monday, 1 December 2025. Be sure to mark these dates in your calendar!
It will be an educational conference in a lush forest setting, approximately one hour southeast of Melbourne’s CBD, where attendees can camp among the trees and under the stars, all on one beautiful site, learning and growing together.
As with our past events, attendees and presenters will travel from far and wide to converge at this one-of-a-kind botanical gathering. Offering an abundance of nourishment for both the mind and body, and endless opportunities to connect, it will be an experience not to be missed.
EGA conferences are internationally recognised as one of the longest-running and most unique ethnobotanical psychedelic conferences in the world. Over the course of more than two decades, we’ve hosted a wide range of gatherings, from intimate seminars to our celebrated multi-day outdoor conferences.
Tickets to the conference are limited, with the number of camping attendees capped to preserve the intimate, village-style atmosphere that our community treasures.
All in one place, among the trees and under the stars…
This year, we’re excited to present an event drawing on many years of experience to create a temporary academic space amongst the trees.
Our aim is to create a forum focused on bringing community together to learn while camping out in the Australian bush. The event will feature lectures, workshops, discussion panels, music, art and more, all carefully curated to support your journey in cultivating ethnobotanical plants, knowledge, and community.
The EGA ethnobotanical conference is internationally respected and recognised as one of the longest-running in the world. Past conferences have drawn luminaries across varied fields from around the planet.
We invite you to co-create something very special at Garden States, as we plant seeds to regenerate the earth, body and mind.
Who’s on this year’s Garden States program?
Garden States: Regeneration is unveiling its much-anticipated conference program, bringing together an extraordinary group of thinkers, researchers, artists, healers and cultural leaders exploring ethnobotany, psychedelics as medicine, alternative states of consciousness, mental health, philosophy, wellbeing and botanical practice.
We’re honoured to welcome celebrated author and psychedelic historian Mike Jay (UK), along with international guests Graham St John (UK), Neil Logan (US), Mark Pesce (US), and Kathleen Harrison (USA) — appearing remotely via pre-recorded presentation — as well as internationally recognised artist Harry Pack (UK).
Also joining from abroad are Anna Ermakova (UK/RU), whose work bridges neuroscience, conservation and altered states of consciousness; Tehseen Noorani (NZ/UK), a social scientist researching psychedelics and extreme states of consciousness; James W. Sanders (UK), Anna-Leigh Hodge (NZ) and Sam Lasham (NZ), each bringing unique perspectives on plant medicines, cultural renewal and therapeutic practice.
They join an inspiring Australian and regionally based lineup including Dr Monica Barratt, Dr Petra Skeffington, Dr Martin Williams, Dr Alex K. Gearin, Stephen Bright, Uncle Mark Brown, Vanessa Kelly, Caine Barlow and Dr Simon Beck.
Adding further depth to the program are voices such as Alison Pouliot, ecologist and fungi educator; C. Scott Taylor, psychonaut and early light-show pioneer; Mohammad Reza Mirzadeh, presenting new research on local psilocybin mushrooms; Torsten Wiedemann and Sianna-Rose ‘Pixie’ Miller, leading hands-on explorations of Solanaceae plants; Adrienne Mitchell, teaching Banisteriopsis caapi propagation; Jessica Moulynox, on native edible and medicinal flora; and Lennard Garcia-de Heer, research horticulturalist in psychoactive plant systems.
Further contributors include philosopher Samuel Douglas, writer and performer Nick Sun, ethnobotanical author Snu Voogelbreinder, and artists Lee Miles, Nen, Communacacian and Jef Baker, each offering unique perspectives on the cultural, scientific and spiritual dimensions of plant knowledge.
More contributors will be revealed soon as the program continues to grow, celebrating the living intersection of plants, culture and healing.
We invite you to read a recent interview by Anita Spooner, who works closely with two of our international contributors, artist Harry Pack and anthropologist Alex Gearin.
