The Long, Winding Road of Psychedelic Species and the Human Quest

Global traditional plant hallucinogens, by EW White, for RE Schultes

In the Big Picture, the fungi came first, and then the plants evolved, with their magnificent chemistry. Much later, we humans wove ourselves into their story. First tribal, then regional, and now global. We can look at this very long flow from the distant past to far future, and consider where we are now. What is our role as seekers and knowledge-carriers in this saga? Storytelling and speculation expand the scope of our vista, and our sense of what we are collectively trying to understand and model in this exquisite, challenging work. It is valuable to appreciate the crucial, ongoing role of hidden players and the psychedelic underground in cultures past and present.

This presenter’s talk will be delivered remotely via live stream or pre-recording.
